Let’s Call It “Donald Trump”

I just saw a Yahoo.com “news” item (based on a report by a gossip columnist (Rob Shuter)) that JD Vance talked with spouse, Usha, about maybe naming their baby “Donald” after Donald Trump (presumably, Don Sr., right?). Usha shot down the idea, ostensibly for reasons having nothing to do with any reservations she may have about the President.

Whatever her reasons, I think it’s probably prudent not to name a child after President Trump. After all, children are typically stuck with their names for at least a while, and, well, the decision to name a child after Trump may not age well.

As some (okay, just a few) readers may know, I have recently suggested a number of conditions and maladies that might be fun to put Trump’s name on, since the Administration and Republicans generally seem to be hell-bent on naming everything after the Orange Would-Be Autocrat. You can find my suggestions here or here.

But the story about Vance possibly naming a child after Trump (whether true or not) got me thinking. It might be best to attach Trump’s name to merely transitory (annoying) phenomena. His name could even become an all-purpose word to describe a variety of temporary annoyances:

“Honey, you’ve got a little Donald Trump on your shirt.”

“Oh, shoot. I just stepped in some dog Donald Trump.”

“Did I have that Donald Trump hanging from my nose during the entire Zoom meeting?”

“What’s that smell? Did someone Donald Trump?” “It was the dog.” “No, I know what doggy Donald Trumps smell like.” “He who smelt Donald Trump dealt Donald Trump.”

Other suggestions would be welcome.
