As reported by the Washington Post, Vice President Vance claims that Nixon was a victim of the “deep state” and that Watergate was a non-issue. As someone old enough to remember Watergate, I find this astonishing. (Of course, you don’t have to be old enough to remember Watergate to reach the same conclusion.)
Clearly, Vance is saying this because he and his orange boss are planning–or have already engaged in–corrupt and anti-democratic schemes that are similar to, or worse than, the ones Nixon attempted.
Vance’s statement isn’t coming from a place of mere ignorance. Rather, it reeks of Soviet-style revisionism. And by identifying himself (and his boss) with a man who sought to subvert the rule of law and basic democratic processes, Vance has proved yet again that he and Trump are completely unfit for high office, or for any office. Disgusting.
Oh, and by the way, where are those Epstein files?
