Finally, He’s Listening to Me

Back in July, I urged President Trump not to listen to the hand-wringers and nay-sayers who were concerned about the defensive capabilities (or lack thereof) of the beautiful plane that Qatar gifted to him . . . I mean, to the US. (By the way, the “u” in the country’s name was apparently transferred to the name “Dumocrats” or, for the more high-brow MAGA members, “Dumbocrats.”)

I suggested that Trump should not wait until the plane was all tricked-out with defensive doo-dads and gizmos, but should start enjoying it now. Although I didn’t say it at the time, I think an 80-year-old such as Trump needs to carefully ration periods of self-denial.

I also suggested that Trump should enjoy the plane with his “best people,” meaning his staff, supporters, fellow billionaires, and other associated grifters. For some reason, it did not appear that Trump or his Administration were listening to me. (They don’t subscribe to Substack or AdamandPeeve.com?)

Well, today I learned that my fears were misplaced. Trump is listening to me. Specifically, according to the New York Times, Trump is planning to use the plane Qatar gifted to him (I mean us)—the luxurious, most-beautiful plane that everyone says is the best plane ever—to fly to Ireland next week.

The Times said it was not known whether the planned defensive upgrades for the plane had been undertaken, and the Washington Post reporting on the same matter, seems to assume that the upgrades have not been made.

I’ll go with the Washington Post take for a variety of reasons that I need not get into.

Have a good trip, Mr. President. Don’t worry about a thing. We’ll manage while you’re gone.
