The Reflecting Pool Again

The New York Times is reporting that the awesomely expert no-bid contractor that Trump hired for the reflecting pool project told the Trump Administration that the contractor’s own mistakes were responsible for the damage that Trump attributed to “vandals.”

The Times characterizes the contractor as conceding that “errors in its own work and flaws in the repair plan, not vandalism, caused the pool’s new blue liner to peel and break loose.”

The documents revealing the contractor’s reports date back to mid-August, but only came to light now. I am sure the delayed release is attributable to the Trump Administration’s perfectly innocent suppression of adverse information.

Together with what we already knew from Jeanine Pirro’s motion to dismiss the vandalism case against David Hearn, the contractor’s reports seem to lead inexorably to the conclusion that Donald J. Trump, President and Dear Leader of the United States of America, Canada, Iceland, and Greenland; Lord of Lake America and the Gulf of America; soon-to-be Master of the Strait of Trump; etcetera, etcetera, etcetera, is–perhaps, just maybe, possibly, and/or arguably–not omniscient after all.

This must be a blow for Trump’s supporters. But I am sure they’ll rebound with some good old standbys like, “What about the time that Obama . . . ?” or “This is Biden’s fault” or the always useful “Fake news” rejoinder.

What they won’t do is throw out their adorable $55 “Trump Was Right About Everything” hats. You don’t throw out a $55 baseball cap.

And anyway, he’s going to give everyone $5,000 and end the Iran war after the midterms. He promised.
